Ways to Give
Cash & Credit Card Donations
Gifts made by cash, check or credit card and gifts-in-kind provide Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation with the support necessary to carry out our mission. These gifts can be used immediately to help a senior at risk.
Gifts of Gratitude
Gifts of gratitude provide a grateful client the opportunity to support a senior in need. Due to lack of financial resources, many seniors stay in their home too long and put themselves at risk of injury.
Our founder, Wendy Jones, has helped place many seniors in safe communities so that they can live out their years with dignity and grace. Wendy discovered that many low-income seniors do not have the financial resources for assisted living or memory care. She started Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation to help bridge the financial gap for low-income seniors in need of proper housing and care. With your help, we can provide the financial resources for many seniors in need.
Areas of funding need:
Emergent Need – Many seniors need help for only one month due to some form of emergency. Emergent needs can run from $300 to $3,500 and may include replacing their clothing, household goods, or paying 1 month respite care in the home or community.
Monthly Scholarships – Some seniors are no longer able to live independently and fall short of financial resources for assisted living or memory care. After filling out an application, seniors who qualify can receive monthly financial assistance sent directly to the community, so they can live in a safe environment.
Monthly Senior Scholarships – $400
Investment of 1 Year Senior Scholarship: $4,000
Investment of 2 Years Senior Scholarship: $9,600
Homecare or Transportation – Seniors often need assistance for a short time with homecare or transportation to and from their follow-up appointments with a physician.
Cost of Homecare: $300 per week average
Cost of Medical Transport: $175 roundtrip

Charitable Gifts
There are several ways interested donors can make contributions to the Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation. Gifts of cash, securities, real estate and planned gifts are wonderful ways that you can support a senior in need. Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, relies solely on the generosity of donors to carry out their mission.
Memorial/Honor Gifts
A gift in memory/honor of a loved one, friend, or associate can be the most appropriate way to express a lasting tribute. Honoring a milestone in someone’s life, for instance, a birthday or anniversary, is also an ideal way to give a special gift.
Planned Giving
A planned gift is a lasting investment to help a low-income senior in need of proper housing and care. Reach out to us if you are interested in learning about the many forms of legacy giving to benefit the foundation.
Guiding Angel Program
The Guiding Angel Program provides a philanthropic opportunity for grateful patients of their families to recognize a special person or staff member of Next Steps 4 Seniors, who walked alongside a loved one and helped during this time of transitional care. A donation in their honor is a great way to acknowledge the caring and compassion of our team.
Honor & Memorial Gifts
Honor and Memorial Gifts are thoughtful ways to mark a special occasion or honor the life or memory of a relative or friend. To make an honor or memorial gift, send your contribution and acknowledgment information (for notification purposes) to Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation.
Consider an Honor or Memorial Gift to celebrate or recognize an individual’s or group’s important milestone or event:
- Births and Birthdays
- Weddings and Anniversaries
- Graduations and Retirements
- Mother’s or Father’s Day
- Illness (Get Well)
- Times of Sympathy
- Times of Appreciation (Thank you)
- Christmas Gifts for someone that already has everything they need
Your gift will be immediately acknowledged with a letter sent to the honored person or group or the family member of a deceased. A personal message on the letter will let them know that a thoughtful donation was made in their name or the name of a loved one.

Employer Matching Programs
Matching employee contributions are an increasingly popular way to demonstrate support of your staff and the community, while encouraging employees to contribute to charitable organizations. When an employee makes a donation, the company’s matching gift can double the impact of the contribution. Check to see if your company offers a matching gift.
Gift Planning/Estate Giving
Making gifts for the benefit of others is an excellent way to affirm your values and priorities. You can designate your gift to a specific program. Your gift can also be unrestricted and used where needed most. Planning your gift to Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation may stretch the value of your donation, enabling you to do more than you think possible. An estate gift may also benefit you and your family: your tax savings may be increased.
A Bequest in a Will or Trust stipulates that an amount or a percentage of your estate will be given to Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation after your lifetime. Your bequest can be designated to a specific program or it can be unrestricted and used where needed most.
Life-income Gifts provide income to a donor and/or another individual age 60 or older. At the end of the beneficiary’s lifetime, the remainder is given to Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation.
A Gift of Retirement Fund Assets is a specific use of funds that would be heavily taxed if given to an individual—up to 85 percent. After your lifetime, the remainder of your retirement fund can be assigned to Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation as a designated or unrestricted gift.
A Gift of Life Insurance from a past policy no longer needed because of the death of the original beneficiary or a newly created policy can benefit Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation in many ways.
Charitable Lead Trusts provide income to Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation over a set number of years and then transfer assets to children or other individual(s) named by the donor. This plan enables heirs to receive assets while minimizing taxes.
Gifts of Appreciated Assets such as stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares, that have increased in value are another way of giving to Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation. The donor receives an itemized income tax deduction for the full current value and also avoids tax on the increase in value. For information on how to manage a stock transfer, contact Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation and we will provide transfer details.

Marye with an “e” Endowment
The Marye with an E Endowment Emergent Grant Fund, in partnership with the Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation, provides financial assistance for seniors in the “Forgotten Middle” who face unexpected, urgent expenses for daily living. This grant program is designed to support seniors who, while not eligible for Medicaid or other low-income assistance programs, still face financial challenges when emergencies arise.

Supporting the Marye with an ‘e’ Emergent Fund Endowment is a meaningful way to help local seniors in need. Donations can be made directly to the fund, ensuring that vital support reaches seniors facing financial challenges for daily living expenses and care. Contributions can be made online or through checks, with options for one-time or recurring donations. Every donation, large or small, makes a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable seniors in our community.
