Short-Term and Emergent Need Grants

If you are no longer able to live independently and fall short of financial resources for assisted living, home care services, or have an emergent need we are here to help! To apply for assistance from Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation, please read the eligibility requirements below and if they apply to your situation, call us at (248) 923-2110 or email the office at admin@NS4SFoundation.org.

Eligibility Requirements:

• You must be ineligible or have been put on a waitlist for assistance from other available programs (see resources page)
• Must be age 70 or older and a citizen of the United States of America
• Income is $2,982 or less per month if single; $5,964 or less for couple
• Assets less than $10,000 (excludes house if spouse is living in it, or it’s generating income)
• Must need assistance with 2 or more activities of daily living (ADLs) – bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, transferring, toileting
• Must submit tax return, copy of current bank statement and a copy of bank statement dated 6 months prior

Emergent Grant Fund

Marye with an “e” Endowment was generously established by the late Marye Miller, who had an extraordinary passion and commitment to supporting the senior population with their basic needs as they age.

The Marye with an “e” Endowment Emergent Grant Fund, in partnership with the Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation, provides financial assistance for seniors in the “Forgotten Middle” who face unexpected, urgent expenses for daily living. This grant program is designed to support seniors who, while not eligible for Medicaid or other low-income assistance programs, still face financial challenges when emergencies arise. Eligibility Requirements:

• • • • Must be age 65 or older and a citizen of the United States of America
      • Income is between $2,982 to $4,500 per month if single; or between $5,964 to $6,500 for a couple
      • Not receiving Veterans Administration support or other low-income support programming (Medicaid, MI Choice Waiver. etc.)
      • Have an immediate financial need for daily living expenses, such as utility bills, licensed home care, food, clothing, or similar essentials
