If you are no longer able to live independently and fall short of financial resources for assisted living, home care services, or have an emergent need we are here to help! To apply for assistance from Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation, please read the eligibility requirements below and print the application form or call us at (248) 651-5010. Eligibility Requirements:

• You must be ineligible or have been put on a waitlist for assistance from other available programs (see resources page)
• Must be age 72 or older
• Income is $2,600 or less per month if single, $3,100 or less for couple
• Assets no greater than $3,000 (excludes house if spouse is living in it, or it’s generating income)
• Must need assistance with 2 or more ADLs (activities of daily living – bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, transferring, toileting)
• Must submit tax return, copy of current bank statement and a copy of bank statement dated 6 months prior

Emergent Grant Fund

The Marye with an E Endowment Emergent Grant Fund, in partnership with the Next Steps 4 Seniors Foundation, provides financial assistance for seniors in the “Forgotten Middle” who face unexpected, urgent expenses for daily living. This grant program is designed to support seniors who, while not eligible for Medicaid or other low-income assistance programs, still face financial challenges when emergencies arise. 

These grants help cover essential needs like utility bills, licensed home care, food, clothing, or other unexpected expenses to support your continued stability and quality of life.

Who Qualifies for a Grant?

If you are a senior who falls within the middle-income bracket and do not qualify for Medicaid, veteran’s benefits, or other low-income programs, you may be eligible for a grant through this program. We understand that unexpected costs can arise at any time, and our goal is to help you manage those expenses.

Eligible seniors must:

• • • • Age 65+
      • United States Citizen / Social Security Card
      • Making $2,829 per month if single, $5,658 for a couple. No more than $4,500 a month if single, $6,500 for A couple
      • Not receiving VA support or other low-income support programming (Medicaid, MI Choice Waiver. etc.)
      • Have an immediate financial need for daily living expenses, such as utility bills, licensed home care, food, clothing, or similar essentials
